Canada’s Marco Arop secured fourth place at the Diamond League track and field event held in Lausanne, Switzerland at Stade Olympique de la Pontaise. Arop set a fast pace and led the pack into the final lap but couldn’t sustain it, finishing fourth with a time of 1:43.18.
The race was won by Kenya’s Emmanuel Wanyonyi in 1:42.19, followed by Algeria’s Djamel Sedjati who achieved a season-best time of 1:42.31. American Brandon Miller took the third spot with a time of 1:42.55.
A year ago, Arop and shot putter Sarah Mitton were the sole Canadians to qualify for the Diamond League Final in Zurich, where they both secured third-place finishes. Arop, currently second in the men’s 800m Diamond League standings behind Kenya’s Emmanuel Wanyonyi, is in a strong position to qualify for the Final based on his standing.
The 2026 Wanda Diamond League Final is scheduled for September 4–5 in Brussels, Belgium.
