A pedestrian, aged 28, lost his life in a collision in Ajax on Tuesday, according to Durham police. The incident occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m. near Salem Road and Chambers Drive when a 60-year-old man driving a truck struck a man on rollerblades. The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene.
Durham police disclosed that the collision happened as the truck, a 2027 Freightliner, was turning right after exiting the westbound Highway 401 off-ramp at Salem Road. The driver of the truck stayed at the site of the accident and has been cooperating with the authorities.
Authorities are requesting anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward to the police or provide information to Crime Stoppers.
