Police in New South Wales, Australia, have initiated a manhunt following a series of violent incidents that resulted in one fatality and another individual critically injured.
The two separate incidents occurred within close proximity in Eungella, just west of Murwillumbah. Emergency services responded to a property where they discovered a man who had been shot. Despite efforts to save him, the 41-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed. Another man, believed to be 38 years old, sustained a gunshot wound and was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
According to a statement from New South Wales police, the tragic events unfolded when a gunman allegedly shot two men, aged 41 and 38, before fleeing the scene with another individual. Subsequently, a 45-year-old man was reportedly struck by a vehicle on Tyalgum Road, leading to his hospitalization and placement under police supervision. The injured 38-year-old man sought medical treatment for his gunshot wound separately.
Authorities are eager to interview the individuals involved to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incidents. They are also actively searching for a fourth person, approximately 37 years old, who is believed to have information pertinent to the investigation.
Forensic teams, including the dog squad unit, are currently present at the scene conducting investigations. As a result of the ongoing operation, a section of Tyalgum Road, spanning from Kellys Road to Old Lismore Road, has been closed to the public.
