A Jet2 flight originating from the UK was compelled to make an unscheduled landing due to an alleged altercation between a passenger and a cabin crew member mid-flight. The pilot was instructed to prioritize landing, and the cabin crew requested medical assistance and police presence upon arrival. Air traffic controllers disclosed that an incident occurred where a cabin crew member was reportedly assaulted during the flight.
According to a post on social media platform X, the incident took place on a flight from Edinburgh heading to South Tenerife. The crew sought medical aid and police intervention upon landing to address a confrontation where the cabin crew member was purportedly assaulted. The flight approach was expedited with priority landing procedures.
Expressing support, air traffic controllers extended assistance to the “crew and passengers” who had to endure the distressing situation. A representative from Jet2 informed The Mirror that authorities were summoned to remove a disruptive passenger from flight LS739 earlier in the day.
In a separate incident earlier today, Edinburgh Airport experienced disruptions in departures due to an IT malfunction. An official statement on social media indicated that flights were temporarily halted as a result of an IT issue with the air traffic control provider at Edinburgh Airport.
Although flights were eventually restored, several were canceled. By approximately 10:40 am, the airport announced that flights had resumed following the resolution of the IT problem with the air traffic control provider. The airport expressed gratitude to passengers for their patience and understanding during the disruption.
