A teenage girl met a tragic end after plunging from an abandoned hotel situated in a popular tourist spot. The 13-year-old was reportedly playing with friends when she fell from the fifth level of the 20-story structure in Santa Cruz, Tenerife, during Thursday afternoon. Upon witnessing the incident, three other children promptly alerted authorities, as detailed by Diario de Avisos. Despite efforts by the police officers present to revive the girl, she could not be saved.
The hotel, locally known as the “Añaza monstrosity,” awaits demolition and poses significant hazards such as open elevator shafts and windows, having remained unoccupied for over five decades. Law enforcement suspects that the girl plummeted from the fifth floor onto the rocky terrain below. Following the tragedy, a comprehensive investigation led by the National Police Homicide Unit has been initiated to probe the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s demise, prompting local residents to demand immediate intervention.
Although authorities believe the girl resided in Añaza, her nationality has not been disclosed. Regrettably, this incident marks the fifth fatality at the cliff-top property in Añaza, located in the northern region of Tenerife.
