An incident involving a knife attack has left an eight-year-old child critically injured and three others seriously wounded, prompting a large-scale police search.
The young child, who bore the brunt of the attack in Germany, sustained “15 to 20 cuts and stab wounds across the body and head,” raising concerns of potentially life-threatening injuries, as per wa.de.
Authorities have shared images of a 20-year-old individual they wish to speak to regarding the assault, which also left the children’s mother in a serious condition.
A spokesperson from the Dortmund public prosecutor’s office warned against direct contact with the individual, stating, “If spotted, the public is urged to contact the police immediately at 110 due to the possibility that he may be armed.”
The assault reportedly took place in an apartment on Zentrumstraße in Bergkamen-Weddinghofen, near Dortmund, where a 26-year-old female resident and her four children, aged three to eight, suffered severe stab and slash injuries. The perpetrator, known to the authorities, fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Described as 1.85 meters tall, slender, clad in dark attire, sporting a white hat, glasses, and a “three-day beard,” the suspect remains at large.
