“Two in Custody After A19 Crash; Woman Critical”

Two individuals have been apprehended by law enforcement in connection to an accident on the A19 that occurred last night. A female driver, operating a Volkswagen T-roc in critical condition, was involved in a collision between the Silverlink Roundabout and Holystone, as reported by Northumbria Police.

The incident involved her vehicle colliding with a Skoda Fabia, with the Skoda driver failing to stop at the scene. The suspects, both men in their 20s and 30s, were taken into custody on suspicion of causing severe injury through reckless driving and are currently under police supervision.

A representative from Northumbria Police stated that a section of the road remains closed northbound to facilitate investigative procedures. The police’s roads policing unit has initiated an inquiry and is urging any witnesses present at the time or possessing dashcam footage of the events surrounding the collision to come forward.

Authorities continue to manage the aftermath of a serious accident on the A19 in North Tyneside, with the road closure persisting more than 12 hours post-incident. Two injured individuals have been transported to medical facilities.

The A19 closure remains in effect for cleanup operations subsequent to the crash that transpired last night according to an updated statement from National Highways. Delays are expected, and individuals impacted should plan alternate routes or adjust travel schedules accordingly.

An AA travel alert indicates that the A19 closure extends from A191 Holystone Way to A1058 Coast Road, with the road shut down for collision investigation work. The closure is now between Holystone and Silverlink Roundabouts, as per the revised location details.

National Highways has confirmed the continued closure of the road to facilitate collision investigation efforts. Southbound traffic is advised to adhere to the hollow diamond diversion symbol, while northbound drivers should follow the solid triangle diversion symbol.

National Highways reports the closure of the A19 in both directions between the A1058 Silverlink Roundabout and the A191 at Holystone due to a serious collision that occurred just after 11pm on the prior night. Emergency services, including Northumbria Police, are present at the scene, with the road closure anticipated to persist into the morning for collision investigation work.
