TV host Claudia Winkleman was honored with an MBE by the King at Windsor Castle, accompanied by her husband. The recognition was for her contributions to broadcasting, alongside her co-host Tess Daly from “Strictly Come Dancing.” Following the announcement, the duo revealed their departure from the BBC dance show after hosting it together since 2014.
During the ceremony, Claudia sported an elegant white suit paired with matching stiletto heels and a headband, engaging in light-hearted banter with King Charles, whose wife, Queen Camilla, is a devoted fan of “Strictly.” Both Claudia and Tess received personal letters from the Queen after their MBE appointments, with Tess describing her visit to Windsor Castle as a deeply proud moment.
Accompanied by her film producer husband Kris Thykier and her mother Eve Pollard, Claudia posed for photographs with her mom, who is a former editor of the Sunday Mirror. Expressing her gratitude on Instagram, Claudia shared a photo with the King, remarking on the incredible honor.
Claudia’s career trajectory includes hosting various BBC TV shows and radio programs until 2024. Following their joint recognition, Claudia and Tess will make their final appearance on “Strictly” in the Christmas special airing on December 25. Additionally, Claudia’s second reality series, “The Traitors,” is set to return on New Year’s Day.
Former cabinet minister Dame Penny Mordaunt, recognized for her role during the King’s coronation in 2023, joined Claudia at Windsor Castle, receiving a damehood for her political and public service contributions.
Claudia’s MBE follows Tess receiving the same honor in November. Reflecting on the occasion, Tess expressed gratitude for the honor, acknowledging the supportive environment and the King’s calming presence during the ceremony. She highlighted the King’s appreciation for her charitable work with the King’s Trust, emphasizing the impact on young lives.
Regarding her departure from “Strictly,” Tess expressed fondness for the show and her excitement for new opportunities ahead. When asked about her replacement, she deferred the decision, expressing anticipation for watching the show from home with Claudia.
