Luke Littler secures his second PDC World Championship title with a remarkable 7-1 victory over Gian van Veen at Alexandra Palace. Despite dropping the first set, the 18-year-old powered past his 23-year-old opponent to claim the prestigious Sid Worrell Trophy.

During the intense final match, Littler faced an unexpected interruption when a wasp halted the game momentarily. Additionally, organizers had to replace the dartboard due to Van Veen’s blood staining it, adding to the unusual turn of events.

The young champion will take home a substantial £1 million in prize money, a doubled winners’ jackpot compared to last year. Van Veen, on the other hand, will receive a commendable £400,000 for his commendable journey to the final.

Cycling icon Sir Chris Hoy, a seven-time Olympic medalist, graced the stage to present Littler and Van Veen with their trophies. Hoy, currently battling prostate cancer, added a poignant touch to the ceremony.

With this victory, Littler joins the elite club of players who have clinched consecutive world darts titles, following the footsteps of Phil Taylor, Adrian Lewis, and Gary Anderson. Expressing his joy, Littler extended gratitude to key figures in the sport and acknowledged the support received.

Speculation arises on whether Luke Littler will be remembered as the greatest darts player of all time, inviting opinions from fans in the comments section. Reflecting on the substantial prize money, Littler emphasized the life-changing impact of the win and his ascent to the top rank in the world of darts.

Praised for his dominant performance, Littler’s remarkable skills were commended by former champion John Part, who hailed him as an extraordinary talent. Van Veen, though disappointed, acknowledged Littler’s superior gameplay and expressed regret over missed opportunities during the match.
