Two cousins who are paedophiles have been sentenced for sexually abusing and grooming five vulnerable girls, as revealed in court. Manzorr Hussain, aged 54, and his cousin Imtiaz Ali, aged 53, were given lengthy prison terms for their despicable acts, involving providing their victims with alcohol and drugs before sexually assaulting them.

During a four-week trial at Minshull Street Crown Court, it was disclosed how the victims, who came from troubled backgrounds, were manipulated by the predators for their own satisfaction. Hussain received a 30-year sentence, while Ali was sentenced to 28 years for their crimes, which primarily occurred in Bury but also in various locations across Greater Manchester and in Wales.

A third individual, Hussain’s older brother Ghulam Hussain, aged 64, faced charges related to sexual offenses in connection with the case but has reportedly left the country. The court informed jurors that it was not their responsibility to determine his guilt.

Prosecutor Anna Pope stated that the defendants were involved in grooming and sexually abusing six teenage girls. The sexual acts took place in different settings such as houses, a hotel, and vehicles. The girls, who were vulnerable due to their troubled backgrounds, were provided with substances, transportation, and companionship by the defendants, creating a sense of indebtedness that led to non-consensual sexual activity.

Ghulam Hussain was identified as the primary perpetrator who abused teenage girls and then involved others, including his brother Manzorr Hussain and cousin Imtiaz Ali, in the exploitation. The court heard that parties hosted by Ali involved the provision of drugs and alcohol to girls, who would be expected to provide sexual services.

In a disturbing incident recounted in court, Manzorr Hussain took one victim to a flat where she was subjected to abuse by several strangers. Following one victim’s report, law enforcement approached other victims as part of the investigation.

In a statement read by a victim, she expressed the profound impact of the crimes on her life, including feelings of shame, fear, and degradation. The victims confronted the defendants, denouncing them as paedophiles and rapists.

Despite a defense plea highlighting Hussain’s positive attributes, Judge Bernadette Baxter emphasized the lack of remorse or understanding displayed by the defendants. The judge characterized their actions as a systematic campaign of rape, leading to severe sentences.

Hussain was convicted of multiple counts of rape and indecent assault, receiving a 30-year prison term. Ali was found guilty of various charges including rape, indecent assault, and attempted indecent assault, resulting in a 28-year sentence. Both individuals are required to serve two-thirds of their sentences and will be registered as sex offenders for life.
