Republican lawmakers reportedly walked out of a classified briefing on Iran in a fit of anger. The incident occurred amid concerns that the US might be gearing up for a ground invasion of Iran following the rejection of Trump’s ceasefire request by the country.

Approximately 7,000 US troops, including units from the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division and the Marines, are en route to the Middle East, leading to speculation about the next phase of the conflict.

Tensions ran high on Capitol Hill during a briefing by Pentagon officials to the House Armed Services Committee, prompting politicians to storm out of the meeting in frustration, as reported by MailOnline.

Nancy Mace, expressing her disappointment, stated, “We were misled,” while committee chair Mike Rogers voiced his dissatisfaction, saying, “We’re not getting answers.”

According to a source, the US is considering deploying ground troops as Iran maintains control over the vital Strait of Hormuz. The lawmakers were briefed on three military targets: Kharg Island, Iran’s key oil export center; its nuclear facilities; and regime change.

These objectives deviate from the publicly stated goals of the White House, which include neutralizing Iran’s missiles, navy, proxy forces, and nuclear capabilities.

During a Cabinet meeting, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth reiterated the mission’s clarity: preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, maintaining a powerful navy, and dismantling its missile program and defense industry.

Iran’s placement of minefields near Kharg Island has raised concerns about a potential US ground operation in the area.

The briefing left several Republicans dissatisfied, with Rogers demanding more transparency and answers regarding the situation.

Senate Armed Services Committee head Roger Wicker echoed these sentiments, acknowledging the frustration expressed by Rogers.

Nancy Mace hinted at a hidden agenda within the White House regarding the war, expressing discrepancies between the public narrative and the classified military objectives.

The discord among Republicans underscores divisions within the party regarding the Iran conflict, raising uncertainties about the mission’s objectives and timeline.
