“Fury Dominates Makhmudov, Calls Out Joshua in Comeback Win”

Date:

Tyson Fury secured a comfortable victory against Arslanbek Makhmudov in the presence of his rival Anthony Joshua. Making a comeback after a 16-month hiatus, Fury, the former two-time heavyweight world champion, displayed dominance throughout the bout. Despite not reaching his peak performance, Fury managed to control the fight and earn a unanimous decision from the judges, with scores of 120-108, 120-108, and 119-109. Reflecting on his performance, Fury acknowledged the challenge of facing a tough opponent like Makhmudov and emphasized the value of going the distance in a competitive 12-round bout.

Expressing his desire for a showdown with Anthony Joshua, Fury called out his rival, but Joshua declined to engage in an immediate fight confrontation. Before the match, Fury paid homage to Ricky Hatton during his ring walk by wearing gloves and shorts bearing the former champion’s name. The fight saw Makhmudov starting aggressively, but Fury gradually found his rhythm and began to assert his control over the proceedings. Despite experiencing some moments of challenge, Fury maintained his composure and effectively neutralized Makhmudov’s attacks.

As the match progressed, the audience grew restless in the fifth round due to prolonged clinching between the fighters. Fury’s strategic prowess became evident as he outmaneuvered Makhmudov and dictated the pace of the fight. Although Fury faced some hits, particularly in the seventh and eighth rounds, he maintained his dominance and kept Makhmudov at bay. By the tenth round, it was clear that Fury was in firm control, targeting Makhmudov’s body with precision shots and showcasing his superior boxing skills.

In a separate match earlier in the evening, Conor Benn secured a points victory over Regis Prograis, marking his return to the ring following a significant career decision to switch promoters. Benn, who showcased resilience in the face of adversity, faced cuts over both eyes but managed to outlast Prograis in a hard-fought battle. The event also witnessed Richard Riakporhe dethroning Jeamie TKV as the British heavyweight champion, and Justis Huni narrowly defeating Clarke in a closely contested match.
