NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) have revealed their intention to shut down 46 mobile bank branches. Mobile banks are essentially vans or trucks that move around to different locations, offering banking services as an alternative to traditional branch visits.

These mobile branches allow customers to carry out basic banking tasks like depositing money and cheques, as well as making simple account inquiries. The mobile bank closures by NatWest and RBS are set to be completed by January 2026. The specific locations affected by these closures can be found below.

A spokesperson representing NatWest Group, the parent company of NatWest, RBS, and Ulster Bank, stated: “We are committed to maintaining a sustainable branch network and are proud to operate a cash-based mobile branch service to support communities without easy access to banking facilities across the UK.”

The spokesperson added, “We regularly assess our network to ensure optimal customer coverage. While the number of service routes will remain the same, we will eliminate a few stops where there is duplication with existing banking hubs.”

In the event that your nearest bank branch closes and you require in-person assistance, customers can utilize any bank within the NatWest group for their daily banking needs. For instance, NatWest clients can make use of RBS branches, and vice versa. Additionally, customers can visit the Post Office to conduct various banking transactions such as cash deposits and withdrawals, balance inquiries, and cheque deposits.
