NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) have revealed their intention to shut down 46 mobile bank branches. Mobile banks are essentially vans or trucks that move around to different locations, offering banking services as an alternative to traditional branch visits.
These mobile branches allow customers to carry out basic banking tasks like depositing money and cheques, as well as making simple account inquiries. A spokesperson representing NatWest Group, the parent company of NatWest, RBS, and Ulster Bank, stated: “We are committed to maintaining a sustainable branch network and are proud to operate a cash-based mobile branch service to support communities without easy access to banking facilities across the UK.”
The spokesperson added, “We regularly assess our network to ensure optimal customer coverage. While the number of service routes will remain the same, we will eliminate a few stops where there is duplication with existing banking hubs.”
