After much wavering, the global leader agreed to a two-week ceasefire, contingent on Iran reopening the vital Strait of Hormuz for shipping. Trump acknowledged Iran’s ten-point proposal as “feasible.” Iranian state news agency IRNA promptly reported Trump’s decision to halt bombings and attacks against Iran for two weeks.
NBC News correspondent Matt Bradley highlighted Iranian state television’s banner proclaiming Trump’s retreat from anti-Iran rhetoric and acceptance of Iran’s conditions to end the conflict. Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, on behalf of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, appeared to endorse Trump’s terms.
Mr. Bradley noted that if attacks against Iran cease, Iran’s Armed Forces will halt defensive operations, allowing safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks. Iran’s ten demands were made public following Trump’s agreement to the ceasefire and suspension of military strikes.
Trump confirmed the arrangement on Truth Social, stating he had called off an impending attack and agreed to a mutual ceasefire for two weeks. He expressed optimism that Iran’s proposals could form the basis for a lasting agreement, indicating progress in negotiations between the US and Iran.
