“Iranian Propaganda Figure’s Son Faces US Deportation”

Date:

The son of a well-known Iranian propaganda figure is facing deportation from the United States following a sudden raid at his upscale residence. Seyed Eissa Hashemi, along with his wife Maryam Tahmasebi and their child, has been taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for imminent removal from the country, as confirmed by the US Department of State. Hashemi, whose mother Masoumeh Ebtekar gained notoriety for her role in the 1979 hostage crisis, has been a prominent figure in academic circles, working as an adjunct associate professor at The Chicago School university. The family’s residency status, obtained through the Diversity Immigrant Visa program in 2016, is now under scrutiny.

After Hashemi’s detainment, Secretary of State Marco Rubio criticized the family’s presence in the US, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for individuals associated with anti-American activities. Concerns and petitions for the family’s deportation have been circulating for some time, with protesters and online campaigns urging swift action. The family’s lavish lifestyle in California’s Agoura Hills area has drawn attention to their presence in the country. Despite Hashemi’s academic and professional engagements, his familial ties to controversial activities have sparked controversy and demands for immediate expulsion.
