“Pre-flight Coffee Dilemma: Airlines’ Hot Drink Policies Decoded”

Date:

Flying on budget airlines often involves a quick dash to catch an early flight, with thoughts of that much-needed first cup of coffee. But the rules around bringing hot drinks onboard vary among airlines. While some allow it as long as the lid is secure, others may require you to discard your drink before boarding.

To avoid wasting money on a coffee that may not make it onboard, it’s essential to check your airline’s policies. Airlines like easyJet permit passengers to bring hot drinks bought at the airport as long as they are lidded. Consider investing in a reusable cup with a tight seal for added convenience.

Unfortunately, Jet2 doesn’t allow passengers to bring hot drinks onboard for safety reasons. Instead, they offer a variety of meal deals that can be pre-purchased. Ryanair also restricts hot drinks onboard but provides an app for pre-ordering beverages during the flight. TUI suggests bringing low-risk cold food and doesn’t explicitly address hot drinks.

British Airways doesn’t explicitly ban hot drinks but emphasizes that all food and beverages must pass security checks. BA’s High Life Café offers an extensive selection of hot drinks on most short-haul flights.

Ultimately, whether you can bring your coffee onboard may depend on the airline’s discretion. It’s wise to be prepared and check airline policies beforehand to ensure a hassle-free travel experience.
