The Montreal Roses made a significant decision to dismiss their first head coach, Robert Rositoiu, following their elimination from the W Canadian Championship. The announcement of Rositoiu’s departure was made by Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director, through a press release on Thursday morning. Pichon expressed gratitude towards Rositoiu for establishing the foundation of the professional women’s soccer team during its early stages. Despite acknowledging Rositoiu’s professionalism, the club deemed it necessary to introduce a new perspective to navigate the remainder of the season and propel the club’s growth.
Currently, the Roses are positioned second in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, having 10 matches left in their regular season. Robert Rositoiu took on the role of head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025. Maryse Bard-Martel, the team’s former assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the interim head coach while the club searches for a permanent replacement for Rositoiu. Bard-Martel will lead the team in the upcoming match against AFC Toronto.
