Cheryl Tweedy has made her first public appearance following her ex-partner Liam Payne’s funeral and the distressing ordeal she faced with her stalker. Recently, the Girls Aloud singer’s stalker, Daniel Bannister, 50, received a one-year prison sentence for violating a restraining order.
This marked Bannister’s third imprisonment for attempting to contact Cheryl, 42, and he was also given a lifetime restraining order. His unwelcome visit to Cheryl’s Buckinghamshire residence for the fourth time in June left her feeling “stunned” and “terrified,” according to Reading Crown Court.
After a challenging period, Cheryl was seen attending the Hadestown Gala Night alongside friends Kimberley Walsh and Nadine Coyle to support her bandmate Nicola Roberts, who is starring in the West End musical until January next year.
At the Gala Night in central London, Cheryl donned an autumnal outfit, sporting a brown coat and showcasing a new hairstyle with bouncy waves framing her face.
Following Bannister’s sentencing, Cheryl’s lawyer, Leandra Smith, shared an impact statement on her behalf, expressing Cheryl’s shock and fear over his repeated intrusions. Cheryl emphasized the significant impact the ordeal had on her, especially in protecting her young child and the necessity of relying on security and loved ones for support.
Cheryl’s reappearance in the public eye comes after the tragic passing of her former partner, Liam Payne, with whom she shares a son named Bear. Liam, a former One Direction member, tragically died on October 16, 2024, after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The official cause of death was determined to be multiple traumatic injuries from the fall.
Cheryl and Liam were in a relationship from 2016 to 2018, welcoming their son, Bear, in March 2017. Despite their split in July 2018, they continued to co-parent their son, who is now eight years old. Cheryl was last seen attending Liam’s funeral in November of the previous year.
