McLaren has officially secured consecutive Formula 1 constructors’ championships, matching the record set by Red Bull with six races remaining in the 2025 season. Dominating much of the season, McLaren entered the Singapore Grand Prix with a substantial 333-point lead over Mercedes. A mere 13 points were needed to secure the title, making it achievable with just one driver finishing on the podium.
During the Grand Prix, McLaren’s Lando Norris, who started behind teammate Oscar Piastri, managed to overtake him, securing a third-place finish. This, combined with Piastri’s fourth-place finish, earned McLaren 27 points, ensuring Mercedes could not catch up. Despite George Russell’s victory and Kimi Antonelli’s strong performance, McLaren’s lead was insurmountable.
After the race, Norris expressed his joy over the team’s victory, praising their hard work and dedication. This victory marks McLaren’s 10th constructors’ championship in Formula 1 history, moving them into second place on the all-time list, surpassing Williams. Ferrari remains the most successful team in the World Championship era, having won the title 17 times.
McLaren, the defending champions from the previous season, clinched their latest triumph much earlier this year. Team principal Andrea Stella highlighted the team’s early realization of their competitive edge, emphasizing the importance of focus and maximizing their potential throughout the season.
Looking ahead, McLaren is in a position to challenge the all-time points record set by Red Bull in 2023. Stella acknowledged the incredible benchmark set by Red Bull but emphasized McLaren’s focus on taking one race at a time and maximizing performance at every stage.
