British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has returned to England following a tragic car accident that claimed the lives of two individuals. Joshua arrived at London Stansted Airport on Friday evening and was subsequently taken to his residence to continue his recovery, as reported by The Sun.

The funeral for his friends, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, is scheduled to take place at a mosque in London. Family and friends have been invited to a ‘janaza prayer service’ in honor of the deceased friends.

Joshua is currently contemplating attending the funeral, with concerns raised about the potential media attention it could attract. Reports indicate that Joshua narrowly avoided being in the fatal crash by switching seats just moments before the journey that tragically ended the lives of his friends.

The driver of the vehicle, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving. Kayode’s lawyer stated that the incident was an accident and that the brakes allegedly failed. The journey began in Lagos, where Joshua initially sat in the front seat but later moved to the back at the driver’s request for better visibility.

Kayode, aged 46, was driving Joshua and his friends in a black Lexus Jeep when the collision occurred with a parked truck on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. Following his discharge from a Lagos hospital, Kayode was taken to Abeokuta for further questioning and provided an official statement about the events leading up to the crash. The trial for Kayode’s case has been scheduled for January 20.

Upon his release from the hospital, Joshua paid his respects to Ghami and Ayodele at a funeral home. He accompanied his mother to visit the bodies of his friends before they were repatriated to the United Kingdom for their final arrangements.
