British woman Bella Culley, who was arrested for drug trafficking in Georgia, recently shared on TikTok that she has given birth to her baby weighing 5 pounds. Culley, 19, was released from prison on November 3 and was joyfully reunited with her family shortly after. In a TikTok video, she can be seen cradling her newborn with a beaming smile, expressing gratitude for being where she belongs.
Culley had faced allegations of attempting to smuggle 12 kilograms of marijuana and two kilograms of hashish from Thailand into Georgia. Initially facing a potential two-year sentence, prosecutors decided to credit her time served, leading to her release after spending five months and 25 days in custody.
Her parents, Lyanne and Niel, raised funds to settle a plea deal that allowed Culley to return to the UK. Following a challenging period in prison, she was transferred to a mother and baby unit. Upon her release, her mother expressed immense happiness and even suggested naming the baby after their lawyer, Malkhaz Salakaia, who noted signs of physical distress when Culley arrived in Georgia.
Neighbors in Billingham, Co Durham, where Culley was studying to become a nurse before her overseas trip, attested to her innocence, stating she had no history of drug use. It was revealed that Culley had disappeared while traveling in Thailand and later became pregnant during her journey through Asia. Despite her unexpected release, Culley expressed her overwhelming happiness and surprise at regaining her freedom.
