Coronation Street emerged as the big victors at this year’s Inside Soap Awards, clinching the most prestigious accolades. The popular ITV soap outshone its BBC counterparts, including EastEnders, securing top honors in various categories.
The enduring soap opera secured the coveted title of Best Soap for the second consecutive year. Additionally, several of the show’s leading actors claimed victories in their respective categories.
Among them was Jack P Shepherd, recognized for his portrayal of David Platt on Coronation Street, who received the Best Comic Performance award. Vicky Myers, who plays Lisa Swain, was honored with the Best Actress award.
During the awards ceremony, Inside Soap editor Sarah Ellis remarked on the exceptional level of drama witnessed throughout the year. She highlighted the competitive nature of the Best Soap category, with Coronation Street’s win capping off an exceptional year for the show, partly attributed to the beloved on-screen duo of Alison King and Vicky Myers, known to fans as Swarla.
