Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy faced jeers and shouts from the crowd as he began his speech at a vigil honoring the victims of the Manchester terror attack. Attendees expressed their discontent by shouting phrases like “shame on you,” “go to Palestine, leave us alone,” “you’ve allowed it to grow on the campuses,” and “you have blood on your hands.”

During his address, the Deputy PM discouraged people from participating in demonstrations over the weekend, emphasizing the need for reflection and human dignity. Meanwhile, the tragic incident at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue resulted in the loss of two worshippers, Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66, at the hands of terrorist Jihad Al-Shamie. One victim succumbed to gunshot wounds following intervention by armed police.

In response to the attack, opposition leader Keir Starmer condemned it as a terrorist act aimed at instilling fear and targeting Jews based on their faith. He called for unity across all communities to stand in solidarity with the Jewish population. Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of combating antisemitism and ensuring the safety of the Jewish community, commending the quick and effective response of law enforcement that prevented further harm. He expressed gratitude to all those involved in the response and underscored the significance of support and solidarity during such challenging times.
