A tragic incident unfolded as emergency responders discovered a deceased man following a destructive fire at a residence in Royton. The incident took place early this morning at 5:35 am on Marches Close, located off Oldham Road. The Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed the recovery of the man’s body around 6 am.
According to a GMP representative, authorities were alerted to the fire occurrence at a property off Oldham Road in Royton at approximately 6 am on December 3, 2025. Unfortunately, the lifeless body of a man was found inside the premises. Investigations are currently underway.
Police have cordoned off the area, and forensic specialists are actively conducting examinations, as reported by the Manchester Evening News. The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service detailed that at 5:35 am on the same day, fire crews from Oldham, Hollins, and Chadderton, in addition to the turntable ladder from Manchester Central fire station, responded to a fire incident at a detached bungalow on Marches Close, Royton.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus deployed three hose reel jets to extinguish the flames. Emergency teams remain on-site with partner agencies to ensure the safety and security of the area.
