Provincial authorities reported the death of a 22-year-old individual in a motorcycle crash in Pickering, Ontario, during the early hours of Saturday. The incident occurred on Highway 401, specifically between Brock Road and Westney Road, with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responding to the scene just before 2:30 a.m.
The victim, a resident of Scarborough, tragically lost his life after colliding with an electronic sign board within a construction zone. OPP shared this information via social media on Saturday morning. Sergeant Kerry Schmidt of the OPP mentioned that the motorcycle was traveling at a high speed, resulting in the rider being thrown from the bike and sustaining fatal injuries.
Sgt. Schmidt confirmed that the family of the deceased has been informed of the tragic event. Following the crash, the westbound lanes of Highway 401 near Westney Road, leading to Brock Road, were closed for an extended period while investigative procedures were carried out. However, the OPP later announced that the road had been reopened.
