Lando Norris was seen embracing his girlfriend Margarida Corceiro after securing his victory as Formula 1 champion. The British racer shared kisses and hugs with the Portuguese model in the midst of the crowd before heading to the podium to celebrate his triumph over Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Norris clinched the title by finishing third at the Yas Marina Circuit, maintaining his 12-point lead over Verstappen. Despite briefly losing second place to Piastri, Norris held his ground and secured the championship.
Charles Leclerc posed a late threat to Norris, but his Ferrari’s performance waned, allowing Norris a clear path to the finish line and the title. Overwhelmed with emotion, Norris expressed his gratitude to his team over the radio, thanking them for fulfilling his dreams.
Upon exiting his car, Norris embraced his parents and shared an emotional moment with Corceiro, his girlfriend. Their relationship, which became public earlier in the season after years of ups and downs, has drawn attention due to Corceiro’s public presence and the increased interest in F1 drivers’ partners.
Corceiro, addressing the attention, mentioned that she does not seek out the cameras, and sometimes remains unaware of being filmed. Norris, moved to tears by his accomplishment, expressed his gratitude to his McLaren team, family, and competitors Verstappen and Piastri, acknowledging the challenges they presented throughout the season.
Reflecting on his journey with McLaren over nine years, Norris expressed pride in bringing success to the team. He emphasized the unpredictability of racing and the perseverance required to secure victory, crediting his team for their support and dedication.
