For approximately four years, I have consistently used Lush hair care products, sticking to my tried-and-tested favorites. The products I rely on are the Big shampoo or Swell, along with either Veganese or American Cream conditioner. It took me some time to discover this combination, but I am pleased with the results.
Recently, I came across the Snow Fairy shampoo by Lush on TikTok, which piqued my interest. I was curious if it had the familiar scent, if it contained glitter, and what effects it might have on my hair. Would it possibly turn my hair pink?
Snow Fairy is one of the scents I adore from Lush, so whenever it is available each year, I am one of the first customers to try out the new products.
Lately, Lush introduced the Super Fairy collection, combining Super Milk and Snow Fairy, which I absolutely love.
I can confirm that the shampoo indeed has a similar scent to the spray, albeit slightly less sweet, which was expected.
However, I was surprised by how pigmented the product is! It genuinely resembles hair dye!
The bottle cautions against leaving it on dry hair for too long as it may actually dye the hair. As someone who has never dyed their hair, this aspect did intrigue me a bit.
A TikTok user, Aimee, shared her experience with the Snow Fairy shampoo, revealing that it turned her bleached hair pink after leaving it on for an extended period. She emphasized that individual results may vary and she had left it on for an hour rather than using it solely as a shampoo.
The product label also mentions, “This product is deliberately pigmented, so watch where you whip it,” prompting me to rinse the shower thoroughly afterward. However, it was all in good fun.
Upon dispensing the shampoo onto my hand, I was surprised by its glittery, bright pink appearance, which seemed to instantly stain my hand. I half-expected it to leave a lasting mark.
Nervously, I contemplated switching back to my reliable ‘Big’ shampoo with its salty essence. Nevertheless, I proceeded to lather up the Snow Fairy shampoo, combining it with water to cleanse my hair thoroughly. Similar to the Big shampoo, it appeared to be a one-wash solution, which I prefer.
While massaging the product into my hair, I secretly hoped for a hint of color, though deep down, I knew it was unlikely due to my non-bleached hair.
After rinsing, my shower smelled delightful, and my hair felt exceptionally clean. Transitioning from a salt shampoo to a more conventional product felt unusual.
Following my usual conditioning routine with Veganese, completing my shower routine, I wrapped my hair in a towel. Upon inspection, I checked if my hair miraculously turned pink.
Not surprisingly, my hair remained its original color, leaving me slightly disappointed. Nonetheless, I appreciated the cleanliness and the delightful fragrance lingering in my hair.
After allowing my hair to air dry for a bit and applying some Snow Fairy hair primer, a new addition this year, I blow-dried my hair. I noticed that the shampoo seemed to enhance the brightness of my hair. Although my hair is naturally darker blonde and I have never dyed it (except for a temporary dip dye years ago), it appeared slightly lighter to me.
Observing my hair, I thought it appeared lighter than usual. The true test to decide if I will continue using this shampoo will be how long it takes for my hair to become greasy. With the Big shampoo, I can go nearly two weeks without washing my hair.
However, past experiences with different products made my hair look greasy immediately after washing, so the effectiveness varies from person to person.
As of now, I am impressed with the Snow Fairy shampoo. It has maintained my hair’s cleanliness without greasiness and leaves a pleasant scent.
If you want to try it out with a 100ml bottle, it is priced at just £9. So, why wait? And if you do manage to achieve pink hair with it, do share your experience!
