A crash on the M62 has resulted in the closure of two lanes this evening, leading to significant traffic delays.
The eastbound section between junction 24 for Huddersfield and junction 25 for Brighouse has been blocked off to drivers. Emergency responders, including police, fire crews, and paramedics, are present at the scene, with Highways Officers assisting in managing traffic flow.
Motorists have been cautioned to anticipate prolonged traffic congestion that is progressively worsening.
National Highways reported, “This incident is now resolved, and all lanes are open on the #M62 eastbound in #WestYorkshire between J24 (#Huddersfield) and J25 (#Brighouse).” However, a 50-minute delay persists, but is expected to alleviate soon.
Inrix’s live traffic service noted “severe delays” on the M62 due to a prior collision involving three vehicles between junctions 24 and 25 on the eastbound side.
Although all lanes have been reopened by National Highways, a 50-minute delay is still affecting traffic in the area.
Multiple emergency service vehicles, including two ambulances, two fire trucks, and two police cars, are on-site to handle the situation.
Drivers are experiencing one-hour delays in the vicinity of the M62 closure, with congestion spanning at least four miles.
National Highways stated that emergency teams are actively engaged at the crash site.
