US authorities have uncovered over a million additional documents potentially linked to the deceased convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, with plans to release them in the upcoming days and weeks. The US Attorney for the Southern District of New York and the FBI have notified the Department of Justice (DoJ) about this significant discovery, leading to a delay in meeting the congressionally mandated deadline for document disclosure.

The DoJ announced on social media that their legal team is diligently reviewing the documents for necessary redactions to protect victims before releasing them promptly. Due to the substantial volume of material, the process is expected to take a few more weeks while ensuring compliance with federal regulations and President Trump’s directive.

The exact circumstances of how the FBI and New York prosecutors came across these additional documents and when the Justice Department was informed remains unspecified. This revelation follows intense scrutiny from a group of US senators who urged the Justice Department’s watchdog to investigate the missed deadline and ensure transparency for victims.

Recent document releases from the Justice Department included heavily redacted files related to the Epstein investigations, following the enactment of the Epstein Files Transparency Act by President Trump. The newly discovered documents shed light on grand jury testimonies, exposing details of interviews with individuals who alleged being paid for sexual acts by Epstein.

Moreover, the records unveiled information previously undisclosed, such as a federal prosecutor’s note indicating President Trump’s more frequent travels on Epstein’s private plane than previously known. Correspondences between Ghislaine Maxwell and an individual identified as “A,” suspected to be Britain’s Prince Andrew, have also been disclosed, despite Andrew’s consistent denial of any wrongdoing associated with Epstein.

The White House has defended the Justice Department’s handling of the Epstein records, praising Attorney General Bondi and her team for their efforts. Despite criticisms of redactions and missed deadlines, the ongoing review process aims to ensure compliance with legal requirements while safeguarding the identities of victims.
