The partner of professional golfer Jake Knapp on the PGA Tour, Makena White, has passed away at the age of 28. Their relationship began in August 2023 and became public in 2024 following Knapp’s victory at the Mexico Open.
Knapp, who turned professional in 2016, has secured one career win and achieved four top-10 finishes this year. Despite his successes, he did not make the cut for Team USA in the Ryder Cup, which commenced recently.
White, originally from Canada, worked in the field of surgical sales, specializing in providing medical equipment to vascular and cardiac surgeons. She was known to be a devoted sports enthusiast, particularly passionate about hockey and golf from a young age.
A statement shared on social media by a friend of White confirmed her untimely passing, expressing deep sorrow at the loss. The message highlighted White’s unique character, her ability to make others feel cherished, and her boundless love and zest for life.
The couple’s moments together at the Genesis Scottish Open in North Berwick were captured on White’s Instagram, where they enjoyed the surroundings while Knapp finished in a respectable tie for 22nd place.
In one of her last Instagram posts, the 28-year-old White professed her love for Knapp, celebrating their journey together and expressing gratitude for being by his side as he pursued his dreams. The heartfelt message conveyed her deep affection and admiration for him.
