Prince Harry and Meghan have returned to the United Kingdom after residing in the United States for six years, according to reports from media outlets in the UK. The couple’s unexpected decision to go back to Britain was confirmed by both the BBC and the Daily Telegraph, which noted their arrival at Birmingham International Airport around midday. Flight-tracking data revealed that a private charter flight from Van Nuys, California, touched down at the airport at 11:56 a.m.
Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have been enrolled in British schools and are set to begin classes in September. While the family intends to reside in a private, non-royal property outside of London, the exact location has not been disclosed.
Harry and Meghan relinquished their royal duties and departed the UK more than six years ago to pursue business opportunities with Netflix and Spotify. Their relationship with the Royal Family deteriorated rapidly after the couple accused palace staff of mishandling Meghan’s mental health concerns and made allegations of racism and media manipulation against certain family members.
Recently, Harry has expressed a desire for reconciliation to spend more time with his father, King Charles, who is undergoing treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer. However, tensions persist with his brother, Prince William, the next in line to the throne.
