Kevin Sinfield, known for his unstoppable determination, received a heartfelt message from his friend Prince William after surpassing the million-pound mark in his charity challenge. The rugby star has been undertaking an extraordinary feat of running seven ultra marathons in seven days across the UK, with his triumphant return scheduled for Sunday in Leeds.
Prince Charles, who recently crossed paths with Kevin during the opening of the Rob Burrow Centre in Leeds, offered words of encouragement on the penultimate day of the challenging endeavor.
The marathon man, in his sixth charitable initiative supporting Motor Neurone Disease (MND) charities, has raised over £10 million in previous ventures. His current mission is a tribute to his dear friend and MND Association ambassador, the late Rob Burrow.
Kevin is set to conclude his journey with a grand homecoming at Headingley Rugby Stadium in Leeds, where a poignant moment was captured in 2023 as he carried Rob over the finishing line. Reflecting on his friendship with Rob, Kevin expressed how their bond fueled his determination.
On his challenging penultimate day, Kevin, accompanied by England rugby union coach Steve Borthwick, pushed through difficulties, battling the elements and emotional moments. The MND Association commended Kevin’s unwavering commitment, emphasizing the impact of his efforts on the MND community.
Throughout his journey, Kevin met with the family of Kyle Sieniawski, a young MND victim, receiving words of gratitude and support. Kyle’s family, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of MND, stressed the urgency of raising awareness and funding for research to combat the disease.
Kevin’s dedication to the cause resonated with supporters and fellow athletes, with England Rugby captain Lewis Moody commending his humility and resilience. As Kevin approaches the culmination of his remarkable challenge, his message echoes the shared goal of standing in solidarity with MND patients and their families, advocating for continued care and research efforts.
