Driving through Pembrokeshire’s countryside, if you come across what appears to be an alien spacecraft, fear not. There is no extraterrestrial threat; you may have stumbled upon a one-of-a-kind Airbnb experience.
Nestled near the Welsh village of Templeton is the Melin Mabes glamping site, offering three distinct accommodations: a traditional caravan, a treehouse, and the most unique option, the Spodnic UFO. Originally constructed for London’s 2012 Olympics as a generator housing, this galactic-themed pod has been transformed into a quirky staycation space, complete with sci-fi décor and a double bed with bunk beds.
Inside the pod, guests can find a ladder leading to a platform with a glass dome for stargazing. Outside, there is a covered kitchen area with essential amenities and a unique bathroom designed as a replica TARDIS. Additionally, guests can enjoy a private hot tub and outdoor shower next to the Spodnic.
Located just minutes away from the village, guests can explore a nearby pub and cottages. A short drive leads to the family-friendly Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo, where accommodations and free attraction entry are available. Saundersfoot Beach, a popular spot with clear waters and a historic lighthouse, is a 15-minute drive away, offering a sandy beach and fresh seafood dining options.
