A tragic incident in Tadcaster resulted in the loss of a sixth form student who has been identified as Eleanor Hague, also known as Ellie. The 16-year-old, a resident of Sherburn-in-Elmet, North Yorkshire, was a student at Tadcaster Grammar School. The unfortunate event occurred on Monday when a minibus carrying Ellie and other students collided with a car at the junction of Toulston Lane and Rudgate.
The minibus, a Mercedes Sprinter, was transporting nine passengers aged 16 to 18 from Tadcaster Grammar School and Sherburn High School, who share a sixth form program. Another teenage girl sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. The driver of the minibus and the other passengers suffered minor injuries, while the 40-year-old female driver of the Hyundai i10 car has been arrested on suspicion of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving. She has been released on bail pending further investigation.
Law enforcement officials have identified Ellie as the victim and confirmed her identity publicly following the tragic incident. The authorities are urging any witnesses or individuals with relevant dashcam footage to come forward to assist in the investigation.
