In her first game for Vancouver, Alex Lamontagne netted two goals as the Rise dominated the Ottawa Rapid with a 5-1 victory in Northern Super League action. Anna Bout, Maithe Lopez, and Camila Reyes, who converted a penalty shot, also found the back of the net for the Rise. The team scored three goals within a 10-minute span early in the second half before comfortably securing the win at TD Place.
Elise Bell managed to score a consolation goal for the Rapid in the 82nd minute, ending Jessica Wulf’s clean sheet hopes. Following this win, the Rise climbed to fourth place in the league standings, edging past the Halifax Tide by a single point. The Rise now boast a record of seven wins, one draw, and nine losses, accumulating a total of 22 points. Meanwhile, the Rapid, still at the top of the table with 33 points, are three points clear of the Montreal Roses, with a record of 10 wins, four losses, and three draws.
During the match, the Rise held a slight possession advantage of 53% to 47% and outshot the Rapid 17-8, with 11 of their shots on target compared to the hosts’ three. Vancouver also earned four corners compared to Ottawa’s three, and both teams received two yellow cards each.
Looking ahead, the Rise will face the Calgary Wild at home on Saturday, August 29, while the Rapid will visit AFC Toronto on Sunday, August 30.
