After the Hungarian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen was called to meet with the Formula 1 stewards regarding an incident with Lewis Hamilton during the race. Verstappen’s overtaking move on Hamilton at turn four led to the Ferrari driver taking evasive action and going off track. Despite concerns raised by race control, no penalty was imposed on Verstappen following investigations.
Verstappen explained that he seized an opportunity with fresher tires to overtake Hamilton, maintaining control of his car throughout the maneuver. The stewards determined that there was no contact between the cars and that the incident did not constitute forcing another car off track. As a result, no further action was taken against Verstappen.
In the race, Verstappen finished ninth, earning two points for Red Bull, while Hamilton struggled, finishing in 12th place. Lando Norris clinched victory, fending off his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri. Norris secured his fifth win of the season, closing the gap on Piastri in the championship standings. George Russell claimed third place in his Mercedes, with Charles Leclerc facing challenges in the later stages of the race in his Ferrari.
The thrilling race outcome leaves Norris just nine points behind Piastri in the championship standings as the F1 season heads into the summer break.
