The Canadian senior women’s basketball team dominated the Philippines with a decisive 85-38 victory in the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament held in Guadalajara, Mexico. Yvonne Ejim led Canada with 19 points, while Syla Swords contributed 15 points to the win.
Canada took an early lead of 23-4 at Arena Astros and extended it to 46-11 by halftime. The tournament, featuring eight teams, is set to continue until Sunday.
Having previously defeated Senegal 72-57 in the tournament opener, the Canadian team is scheduled to face host country Mexico on Thursday. The ultimate victor of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in February 2028.
