The Toronto Blue Jays’ star player, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., has returned to the active roster after being on the injured list for seven days. He is set to play against the New York Yankees on Saturday.
Guerrero sustained an injury during a game against the Yankees last week when he collided with George Lombard Jr., a rookie shortstop. The incident occurred at third base during the sixth inning, resulting in Guerrero’s helmet being dislodged after Lombard’s knee and thigh made contact with his head. Despite the collision, Guerrero managed to score a run before leaving the game.
Following his recovery, Guerrero rejoined the team on Friday after successfully passing his concussion tests. He also participated in a minor league rehabilitation game for single-A Dunedin, where he doubled and took swings in the batting cage.
Guerrero was placed second in the batting lineup for Saturday’s game, following the Blue Jays’ 3-1 loss to the Yankees in the series opener on Friday. In a corresponding move, Davis Schneider was sent down to triple-A Buffalo to make room for Guerrero’s return.
Currently, Guerrero holds a batting average of .263 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs. Prior to the injury, he had been performing well, hitting .310 in his last seven games.
