Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a warning to residents in Niagara regarding heavy rainfall expected on Wednesday morning. According to a special weather statement, the region is anticipated to receive approximately 50 mm of rain. The federal weather agency stated that a line of intense showers and thunderstorms is forecasted to move eastward over the area throughout the morning, cautioning about the possibility of property damage and water accumulation in low-lying areas. Drivers are advised not to venture through flooded roads and to be vigilant for potential washouts near rivers, creeks, and culverts. The rain is projected to taper off by late morning on Wednesday.
This advisory follows recent severe flooding that impacted thousands of residents in the region due to unusual weather events in late July and early August, which brought consecutive thunderstorms. The aftermath of the storms resulted in widespread flooding of residences, commercial establishments, and agricultural lands, causing various damages ranging from personal belongings to vehicles.
