SeatGeek Canada has been hit with two additional fines by the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets to their original face value. According to the province’s consumer alert website, the most recent fines imposed on the ticket reselling platform this month amount to a total of $22,500.
The first fine, totaling $15,000, was issued for allegedly listing a ticket for sale or facilitating the sale of a seat above the permitted resale price. The second fine, amounting to $7,500, was imposed for reportedly failing to disclose the full price of a ticket when purchased from an initial seller.
Neither the province nor SeatGeek Canada promptly addressed inquiries regarding the specific events linked to the fines or whether the reseller intends to contest the penalties. In a similar vein, the province had previously penalized the company with fines totaling $25,000 in August for comparable violations.
