A massive protest took place in central London today in opposition to the far-right ideology. The Together Alliance event saw a significant turnout of participants, including several celebrities, who marched from Park Lane to Whitehall and Trafalgar Square for speeches and live music starting at 2 pm.
Celebrities like Leigh-Anne Pinnock from Little Mix, Jessie Ware, Michael Rosen, and singer Billy Bragg were among the notable individuals present at the event. Billy Bragg emphasized the importance of unity and stated that the momentum is in favor of bringing people together.
The event aimed to counter a previous rally led by Tommy Robinson, where incidents of violence and hate speech were reported, resulting in police intervention to maintain peace. Counter-protestors also made their presence known during the march, leading to a few arrests for various offenses.
Organizers estimated that over half a million people joined the demonstration, making it the largest anti-far-right rally in Britain’s history. The diverse crowd, spanning different ages and backgrounds, gathered in solidarity against far-right ideologies and for inclusivity and unity.
Various speakers and performers, including Green Party leader Zack Polanski, gave impassioned speeches denouncing the far-right agenda. The march culminated in Whitehall, where thousands gathered to continue expressing their support for the cause and sending a clear message against hate and division.
