Iran Requests $2M Ship Fee in Ceasefire Deal

Date:

Iran has disclosed its demands to President Trump following a ceasefire agreement, requesting a substantial $2 million fee per ship to use the Strait of Hormuz. The agreement between Washington and Tehran was reached to prevent further escalation in the Middle East conflict. President Trump had set a deadline for a deal, warning of dire consequences if not met. However, at the last minute, he announced a cancellation of the planned attack and agreed to a two-week ceasefire.

In a statement on social media platform Truth Social, Trump confirmed the suspension of military actions against Iran and expressed willingness to negotiate based on Iran’s 10-point proposal. The key points of the proposal include ensuring non-aggression towards Iran, ending the war permanently, halting Israeli strikes in Lebanon, lifting US sanctions, and ceasing regional conflicts against Iranian allies. Additionally, Iran would open the Strait of Hormuz, impose a $2 million fee per ship, split the fees with Oman, establish safe passage rules, and use the fees for reconstruction.

Iran’s Foreign Minister stated that a ceasefire could proceed if attacks against Iran cease, allowing safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks. The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, urged Trump to extend the deadline to enable diplomacy. However, questions linger about the President’s decisions, with calls from some Democratic representatives to remove him from office.

Amid concerns about Trump’s actions, a psychologist warned of his potential cognitive decline. The White House hailed the ceasefire as a victory, attributing it to Trump’s leadership and military prowess. The successful negotiations have paved the way for diplomatic solutions and the reopening of the vital Strait of Hormuz.
