Apple has commenced its annual WWDC Developers Conference at its futuristic headquarters in Cupertino. The tech giant is set to unveil its upcoming software upgrades, with iOS 27 slated to launch in the Fall and supersede iOS 26 as the latest operating system.
The new iOS version will introduce enhancements such as advanced customization options for the Liquid Glass interface, improved file search capabilities, and a more intelligent Siri capable of composing emails, scheduling events, and assisting in booking event tickets.
Apple guarantees improved device responsiveness for older iPhone models through the implementation of a feature called CPU Scheduler. Additionally, overall device performance is expected to see significant speed enhancements, with iPhone and iPad apps launching up to 30% faster, photos loading up to 70% quicker post-capture, and AirDrop transfers becoming up to 80% faster.
A notable feature geared towards parents with children using connected devices is the introduction of a suite of user-friendly tools to manage content visibility, communication permissions, and access schedules for apps. New features like “Ask to Browse,” “Time Allowances,” and enhanced Screen Time settings aim to simplify device management for parents.
Sumbul Desai, M.D., Apple’s vice president of Health and Fitness, emphasized the company’s commitment to creating technology that empowers users, enriches lives, and ensures safety. The updates aim to assist families in establishing age-appropriate protections and promoting healthy digital habits.
While Apple is yet to disclose the complete list of changes, it has confirmed that all iPhones currently running iOS 26 will be eligible for the iOS 27 update. The compatible devices include a range of models from iPhone 11 to iPhone SE (3rd generation).
