Canadian defender Moise Bombito revealed that a conversation with national team coach Jesse Marsch motivated him to prioritize playing in the upcoming FIFA World Cup, despite facing physical challenges. Bombito, who is set to undergo surgery on his left tibia again, has been dealing with persistent pain, leading his club team, Nice, to announce the need for the procedure. The 26-year-old expressed his determination to represent his country in the World Cup, which holds particular significance for him as it will be hosted in his hometown.
Having initially fractured his tibia in October, Bombito made a comeback to participate in Canada’s matches this summer. Despite his efforts, he struggled during the games, especially in the knockout match against South Africa. The defender acknowledged the difficulties he faced due to his injury but remained committed to his recovery and future performance.
Reflecting on his decision to delay surgery, Bombito admitted to enduring constant discomfort and pain, affecting his daily activities. He emphasized the mental toll of persisting with the injury and expressed eagerness to undergo the necessary treatment to regain full fitness and contribute effectively on the field. Bombito’s journey with Nice began in 2024 following his stint with Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids, where he featured prominently in his debut season before injury setbacks hindered his recent performances.
