In a recent auction, a lightsaber associated with Luke Skywalker’s iconic scene from the movie “The Empire Strikes Back” was sold for a record-breaking $3.75 million. This sale marks the highest amount ever paid for a prop used in any “Star Wars” film, as reported by the auction house.
Now, enthusiasts have the opportunity to acquire the lightsaber that Darth Vader used to confront Skywalker in the memorable duel at Cloud City, delivering the famous line “I am your father.” This particular lightsaber, also featured in “Return of the Jedi,” is anticipated to fetch a minimum of $1 million. It is just one of the numerous lightsaber props that will be part of the upcoming Ultimate Star Wars Auction by Heritage Auctions on November 12. The auction will encompass lightsabers from various “Star Wars” episodes, along with props from other films and television shows within the expansive universe created by George Lucas.
Among the highlights are the lightsabers wielded by Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker in “Revenge of the Sith,” each estimated to sell for at least $10,000. An EE-3 carbine blaster utilized by Boba Fett in “The Empire Strikes Back” is projected to exceed $100,000 in value.
Additionally, the auction will feature a Yoda puppet hand used by Frank Oz in “The Empire Strikes Back,” Anthony Daniels’ personal signed screenplay for the original 1977 “Star Wars,” and a TIE Fighter pilot helmet from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”
