NatWest customers are expressing concerns over missing funds due to a technical problem. The issue has affected numerous individuals who attempted to move money between their primary accounts and separate “pots” introduced by NatWest earlier this year.
NatWest, which serves 20 million clients, has issued an apology, attributing the problem to delays in fund transfers. The bank assured customers that no money has been lost, and account balances will be rectified shortly.
Around 500 people have reportedly been impacted by this issue, as per initial reports by The Sun. One customer shared their experience of being left in a negative balance due to the missing funds.
A customer shared, “I transferred £3,500.00 back from my pot to my account to cover an Airbnb booking, but the money has vanished. When I contacted NatWest, they acknowledged the issue with pots but couldn’t provide details on the whereabouts of my funds or the timeline for their return.”
Another affected individual mentioned on social media the disappearance of £1,000 and £150 from their accounts after transferring funds to pay rent, leaving both accounts significantly overdrawn.
NatWest’s related brands, Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and Ulster Bank, have not experienced similar delays in fund transfers.
A NatWest spokesperson acknowledged the delay experienced by some customers in withdrawing or adding funds to their Pots through digital platforms. The bank has rectified the issue and assured customers that their account balances will be updated promptly, apologizing for any inconvenience caused.
In a separate development, Sainsbury’s customers can look forward to accessing new financial services, including savings opportunities and loans, through a collaboration with NatWest. Exclusive benefits for Nectar members are also in the pipeline, with the new products set to roll out in the latter part of the year.
