A 19-year-old teenager has been arrested for a brutal murder, shocking investigators with the disturbing details he reportedly shared with his girlfriend. Lucas Sander Jones confessed to the crime in graphic terms, stating, “I killed somebody and cut him up,” which has become crucial evidence in the case against him.
The troubling events unfolded on March 20 when the girlfriend visited Jones at his residence in Indialantic, Florida and discovered a disturbing scene. Authorities found blood on the floor and walls, stains on Jones’ clothes, and signs of cleanup, including the use of black spray paint inside the property.
During the encounter, Jones allegedly confessed that the victim, Colie Lee Daniel, 28, was targeted because he was a registered sex offender. Jones had reportedly prepared for the attack by printing out a list of nearby sex offenders before the incident, indicating premeditation.
Daniel, previously convicted in 2018 for an offense involving a minor, was listed on the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s sex offender registry. Jones allegedly assaulted Daniel with a baseball bat before dismembering the body using various tools.
When Daniel did not return home, his parents located him using a tracking feature on his device, leading them to Jones’ address. After contacting the police, officers initially had difficulty accessing the property. Subsequently, Jones allegedly disposed of the remains in containers and a suitcase in a remote area known as “the Compound” in Palm Bay.
Days later, human remains were discovered in an abandoned suitcase in the area, with items linking back to Jones. He was initially arrested on charges related to human remains handling but was later charged with first-degree murder. Jones is currently detained without bond as legal proceedings progress.
Jones’ girlfriend provided additional information, including a revised timeline of events, and disclosed that Jones instructed her not to cooperate with law enforcement. She also claimed that Jones had retained some of the victim’s blood, details not previously disclosed publicly.
