A tragic incident unfolded when a married couple, Mariano Robles, 28, and Solana Albornoz, 32, lost their lives in a severe storm while stranded in their car, leaving their two young children behind. The couple had left a wedding celebration at the SMATA complex in Tafi Viejo, Argentina, and were last seen joyfully dancing with friends before deciding to head home in the early hours of April 5. They had informed their nanny that they were waiting for the storm to pass before returning to their children, aged two and nine months.
Unfortunately, the couple’s final message to the nanny was their last as they were swept away by a flash flood, resulting in their car being dragged into an irrigation canal. Concern arose when they did not return home by the next morning, prompting relatives and wedding guests to raise alerts on social media platforms. Tragically, the white Nissan Versa carrying Mariano and Solana was discovered overturned in a ditch after being submerged by the floodwaters.
Emergency responders recovered the vehicle and found the couple’s lifeless bodies locked in an embrace inside. Mariano worked at the Tucum Government Palace, and Solana was employed at the state-run savings bank Caja Popular de Ahorros. The devoted parents, known for their unwavering dedication to their children, rarely spent time away from their kids.
The nanny caring for their children that fateful night expressed surprise at their prolonged absence, as they were meticulous about returning home promptly. An investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding their tragic deaths. Regrettably, Mariano and Solana were two of the three casualties during the storm, with a 12-year-old boy also losing his life in a separate incident involving electrocution in the Tucum region.
