Ikea has announced the discontinuation of certain products from its popular flat-pack furniture series, Malm, which has been a favorite for nearly 25 years. Some items from the Malm bedroom furniture collection will be gradually phased out starting this summer, with a complete removal by 2027. However, the renowned Swedish retailer assures customers that these items will be replaced with new options tailored to modern preferences and needs.
The Malm range offers various pieces such as chest of drawers, dressing tables, and bed frames, with prices starting at £15 for a glass top and £49 for a chest of drawers, while a full bedroom set, including a bed frame and four chests of drawers, costs £426.
In response to the changes, an Ikea spokesperson emphasized the company’s commitment to evolving its product offerings to align with contemporary lifestyles worldwide. The decision to discontinue parts of the Malm range reflects Ikea’s dedication to introducing alternatives that cater to current consumer demands.
Customers have expressed mixed reactions to the news, with some nostalgic about their long-lasting Malm furniture pieces. The announcement follows Ikea’s recent promotion offering Family members 50% off on main meals every Wednesday until June 24, known as “Little Saturday” or Lillördag in Swedish, marking the midweek celebration.
As part of this promotion, customers can enjoy discounted meals such as pasta with tomato sauce for £1.45, mac and cheese for £2.25, and more. Additionally, Ikea will feature exclusive £5 homeware deals in-store every Wednesday, along with monthly discounts on select products, including soft toys and glassware.
