Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, has announced a global recall of over 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt issue. The recall pertains to Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026 that may have a second-row center or driver side seat belt buckle anchor that was not correctly attached to the vehicle’s body structure. This defect could compromise the effectiveness of the second-row seat belt system, potentially increasing the risk of injury to occupants. While Stellantis is aware of one injury possibly linked to this issue, there have been no reported fatalities.
The recall affects 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 in other regions outside North America. Stellantis will be reaching out to impacted vehicle owners to arrange for inspections at dealerships. During these inspections, dealers will check the second-row center and driver seat belt buckle anchors and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper attachment to the vehicle’s body.
